100% Pinot Noir blended from three sites across Tasmania - Mt Ventoux (Southern Tamar Valley), Kinvarra (Upper Derwent Valley) & Panorama (Huon Valley)
A slight evolution in approach with this wine, expanding the fruit source to multiple vineyards across the State to bring greater complexity into the wine via different microclimates and soil types, clonal diversity and subsequent approaches in the winery. Clones include MV6, Entav828, 8048 & 2051. Numerous small ferments all handled uniquely to coax more character from the fruit. Basket pressed to barriques (17% new French) for 11 months maturation. Natural primary and malolactic ferments, unfined and unfiltered.
Very much in the usual style here with a mix of darker cherry and berry fruits, bramble notes and subtle underlying earthy characters. Fine boned structure with gentle woodsy tannins, reflecting the ideal growing season with lovely fruit clarity and freshness.
While open and appealing currently, some patience will allow this wine to build and offer more over time.
